Initial Consultation
No referral is needed to get started. Our friendly reception team will help you book an initial consultation at a time that works for you. Where possible, we’ll match your family and child with a therapist based on their needs and your preferences.
The initial consultation is usually held with parents or caregivers only (in person). During this session, your therapist will take the time to understand your concerns, explore your child’s developmental history, and discuss your goals. Together, you’ll create a plan for the next steps.
The second session typically takes place at our clinic, where the therapist will meet, observe, and interact with your child in a warm and playful environment. However, if the therapist feels it is important to observe your child in their natural environment a school/kinder/daycare observation may be recommended.
Assessment
Every child is unique, so our assessment approach is tailored to your child’s developmental needs and goals. Assessment may take place over several sessions and includes both formal and informal tools to get a complete picture of your child’s strengths and areas of difficulty.
Some of the assessments we may use include:
Observation of functional tasks and developmental skills in naturalistic or clinic settings
Sensory Profile (Toddler, Caregiver, School versions)
Bruininks-Oseretsky Test of Motor Proficiency (BOT-2)
Movement ABC
Beery-Buktenica Developmental Test of Visual-Motor Integration (Beery VMI)
Pretend Play Enjoyment Developmental Checklist (PPE-DC)
DASH (Detailed Assessment of Speed of Handwriting)
Canadian Occupational Performance Measure (COPM)
FEAS (Functional Emotional Assessment Scale)
Routine-Based Inventory
Through this comprehensive process, we aim to understand not just your child’s challenges but also their unique strengths and interests. The insights gained help us design a therapy plan that supports meaningful progress and builds confidence in everyday life.

At Amazing Kids OT, we believe that meaningful change happens when therapy is built on connection, collaboration, and play.
Together with you and your child, we will develop an therapy plan tailored to your child’s needs, preferences, and goals. We’ll discuss the type of techniques that best suit your child, as well as the most suitable location (clinic, home, school, kinder), frequency, and duration of sessions.
Our therapy sessions focus on supporting children to build the underlying skills they need to thrive in daily life, from motor skills, emotional regulation, and sensory processing, to self-care, social participation, and learning activities. We use fun, motivating, and neuroaffirming approaches to help each child feel safe, connected, and confident.
We value working in partnership with parents and caregivers. You are encouraged to attend and actively participate in sessions, as you know your child best. By modelling and coaching strategies together, we ensure that skills are carried over into everyday routines at home, school, and in the community.
After each session, you’ll receive comprehensive session notes and practical home program ideas to continue building on your child’s progress.
At Amazing Kids OT, our goal is to empower children and the families who support them to achieve greater independence, participation, and joy in everyday life.

At Amazing Kids OT, we know that parents and caregivers are the most important people in a child’s life. You are the experts on your child and we’re here to empower, guide, and walk alongside you.
Our parent coaching and education sessions are designed to build your confidence and equip you with practical strategies to support your child’s growth, regulation, and independence in daily life. Together, we explore your child’s unique strengths and challenges, and help you understand the “why” behind their behaviours.
Through coaching, we provide individualised guidance on:
Supporting emotional regulation and co-regulation
Creating sensory-friendly routines and environments
Building play and connection at home
Managing transitions and challenging moments
Developing problem-solving and flexible thinking
Parent sessions can take place in person or online and may be integrated alongside your child’s therapy sessions or offered as dedicated parent support.
When parents feel confident and supported, children feel more secure and capable, creating a foundation for growth and connection at home and beyond.

Our group programs at Amazing Kids OT are designed to help children build important skills in a fun, supportive, and social environment.
We offer a range of interest-based groups, including art and craft, LEGO® groups, Dungeons & Dragons (D&D), gross motor play, and more. Each program is thoughtfully designed to support areas such as:
Social connection and teamwork
Emotional regulation and resilience
Communication and problem-solving
Motor skills and body awareness
Creativity and flexible thinking
Confidence and self-expression
Groups are small and carefully matched to ensure each child feels safe, included, and motivated to participate. Our therapists use playful, strengths-based approaches to gently encourage each child to explore new challenges, build friendships, and develop skills they can use in everyday life.
Whether your child loves creating, building, moving, or imaginative play, there’s a group program to help them grow.
